Complementary Design

Text Design

For this design, we had to think of a specific quote, song lyric, or saying that meant something to us. I chose the saying, "On the pursuit of happiness." I chose this saying because it relates to me and it is so simple yet has a lot of meaning behind it. We had to make our words go in different directions with different fonts and font sizes. I made the most important words out of my saying in the color yellow. Now, by looking at my design you can see the the words pursuit and happiness are the most important words out of the saying. This design is my favorite because I felt like I had freedom to pick my saying, the colors, fonts, and make it look like my own and a design that relates to me.

In this design, we were told to pick complementary colors and a different shape to use. I used differen sizes, different opacity, and different texture to give this design some variety. I wanted the main focus of my design to be the top left part pf the page. To do that I made the yellow umbrella very bright and gave the purple umbrella a bold texture to bring the viewers eye in. One thing I don't like about this design is that I didn't put more umbrellas on it. I feel that if I would have added some more smaller umbrellas it would have made the design more interesting and not so dull.

For this design, we had to pick a shape and one colors to use. On this one, I decided to use the different shades of purple. I focused my design on the center shape. To do this, I made the background white and gave the center shape a bold texture so it would pull the viewers attention right to the middle. I used different sizes of the shape to put them together to create other shapes, opacity to give the design another affect, and used textures.

For this project, each person had to chose an image and then recreate it. I chose to recreate this picture of a sunflower because I love how pretty and simple these flowers are. I believe I was somewhat successful in recreating my image, but I think there are some things I could have done better when recreating it. I am proud of how well the flower petals look and how I used different tools to recreate this image. But, I think I could have worked better on blending the center of the sunflower and the colors in the background. Blending was harder to do for me because the blur tool didn't work as well, but the smudging tool pulled the colors too much. To improve my blending, I think I need to find the tool that works best for me and the image. I am feeling much more confident in my photoshop skills after completing this project.

Photo Reflection

Animal Morph

In this project, we had to take two different animals and combine them to create a new creature. I chose to make a new creature with an elephant and a duckling, hence the new name "Eleduckling." I chose these two animals because elephants are one of my favorite animals and ducklings are adorable. This project helped me use new tools that will help in future projects. Also, stated in my last project, the thing I needed to work on was blending, and in this project I did much better on that. To make the creature look more real, I added texture from the duckling to the head and tail of the elephant. Adding this texture is what made my animal look more real. All in all, I am happy with how my new creature turned out because it actually looks like one animal and not two images that are just copy and pasted.

Angry Inanimate Objects

With this assignment, we were told to choose an inanimate object and give it angry or creepy human like features. To create these pieces, you had to use the liquify tool to create the so called pockets for the human characteristics. To make this work the image that you chose had to have horizontal lines, which makes it easier to add the features. The one thing I like most about the cake design are the eyes. Using the eraser tool with less opacity, I could make it so it looked like the hands are coming out of the eyes. I do think I could work on blending the images slightly more. The cake design is the creepier one and the shake design is more funny and weird. This assignment was fun because we could pick our images and the features and make it our own.

Extra Design

For this project, we had to complete an advertisement analysis and then make our own ad with a picture that we took. In our advertisement, we had to include: a headline, copy, illustration, and the logo tagline. I really like the way my advertisement turned out for this product. But, one thing I would change about my ad is making the background all black and just highlighting the product making it look like there is a spotlight. I liked this assignment because I could pick which product I wanted and make it how I wanted.

Self-Expressive

In this assignment, I picked 4 pictures of myself to go with 4 different words that describe me very well. My characteristics are: Loving, Cheerful, Happy, and Youthful. I picked loving because I love my friends and family with all my heart and just in general am a loving person. I chose cheerful because I am a cheerleader, very positive, and always have a smile on my face. I chose happy because I am so incredible happy and love the life that I live. Lastly, I picked youthful because I am young and I have fun with life and do fun things because I will only be young once. Overall, I really liked this project because I got to describe myself and make it my own.

Descriptive Self-Portrait

For this assignment, we had to create a collage of pictures that describe ourselves. Such as: our hobbies, interests, family, friends, etc. In my collage I included the things that mean the most to me, and some of my other interests. To emphasize the more important pictures, I used the bevel and emboss feature and added a drop shadow. I did that to make certain images stand out from the rest of the collage. Most of the pictures that do not have an effect on it are just some interests or likings of mine. Also, I added a quote and song lyric that also describe myself. The quote, "Young, Wild, and Free", represents that I am young and love living my youth. The song lyric, "The life of an American Teen", explains that I am an American Teen and the images complement the lyric by showing my life as an American teen. That lyric is in Khalid's song and I absolutely love Khalid's music, as I went to one of his concerts, and he is featured in my collage.
